Born in Bristol in 1930. He studied at the Bath School of Art and then at the West of England School of Art. At the age of 21 he was apprenticed as an Artist to E. S. & A. Robinson. He did his National Service in the Royal Tank Regiment and was stationed in Hong Kong. Here he entered and won a prize in a painting competition sponsored by the Hong Kong Government and later received tuition in Chinese painting by a local artist. He returned to Robinson`s and then became studio manager of a printing firm. He joined the Savages in 1956 and married the same year. In 1966 he became freelance. In 1973 he was President of the Savages. In 1974 he entered an agreement with Frost and Reed who now sell his pictures in London. In the late eighties some of his pictures were selected for an International Exhibition Birds in Art” which toured the USA for many months. He also had numerous one man shows in Bristol, London and New York. His pictures are in great demand. (M. G. W.)
