Elected to the Tribe in 1909 and, apart from the years 1916 and 1917 when he served in the Royal Artillery, he was an active member until he died in 1934. In this year he was also made a Life Member. Apart from his skill with the brush he was also a very fine pen and ink artist. He was a good writer of verse and regularly contributed poems as well as sketches to Grouse when it came into being. He used the signature "Blot". He illustrated the Rip van Winkle story in what became known as the Rip van Winkle folio which the Tribe purchased from him in 1929. (Cecil Broome)
